Giada Selva — Chair
Ciao everyone! My name is Giada, and I'm excited to introduce myself as this year's Chair of Sirius A. I come from Riccione, Italy, and aside from my role in the association, I have a full and exciting year ahead. I'll be working on my thesis in astronomy while finishing my bachelor's in philosophy, and I'm also a mentor and a teaching assistant! Outside of academics, I'm a ballet dancer, and I share my home with two very cute bunnies named Knuffel and Crazy. Whether you have questions, ideas, or just want to chat about the association (or anything else!), you can usually find me in the Sirius A members room! Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
Marko Markovic — Secretary
Hello! I'm Marko, hailing from the scenic Dinarides and currently serving as the secretary of Sirius A. I'm 23 and in the final year of my studies. As secretary, I manage our emails, keep everything organized, and make sure our meetings are well-documented with clear minutes. Plus, I'll be the one nudging you at the end of each month with the latest edition of the Sirius A newsletter! Outside of uni, when I'm not diving into D&D books, discussing philosophy, or cooking, you'll usually find me jumping between new hobbies like an ADHD squirrel-whether that's playing the lyre, feeding and befriending ravens, or anything else that sparks my curiosity.
Dean Gibson — Treasurer
Hello there! My name is Dean Gibson. I am 24 years old and the Treasurer for Sirius A. I am finishing my bachelor's degree and plan to do my thesis this academic year. I enjoy all the responsibilities I have while doing board. I enjoy working hard with my board to see the association flourish. In my free time during the day, I enjoy watching Formula 1 and love spending time with my friends and family. At night, I love looking at the sky and taking pictures with my telescope.
Sofia Mendonca — Commissioner of Internal Affairs
Ola pessoal! I am Sofia Mendonca, I'm 22 years old and I'm from Portugal. I'm an Astronomy Bachelor student. I love cooking, playing boardgames and doing crafts. I'm a proud bunny mom! I'm gonna be the Commissioner of Internal Affairs of Sirius A. I've been a Sirius A member since 2021 and I'm happy to be able to now contribute to the community that made Groningen my 2nd home. If you need a listening ear, you can always come to me! <3
Zara Wahab Siyal — Commissioner of External Affairs, Commissioner of Educational Affairs & Vice Chair
Hi everyone! I am Zara Siyal, I am 21 years old and I come from Pakistan. I have already completed my bachelors in Astronomy and this year I am following Applied Physics pre-master courses. Apart from that, I also decided to put my persuasive skills to good use by taking the position of the Commissioner of External Affairs, Commissioner of Educational Affairs and Vice Chair of Sirius A. My hobbies include turning messed up lines into pretty artworks (feel free to challenge me) and writing poetry. My one true love is chocolate and if you ever catch me super happy, energetic and bouncing about (highly likely) it's probably the sugar high. I am very excited for this year because I am working with wonderful people who have great ideas and we can't wait to make this year a memorable one for Sirius A!
